William James McCall III, 83, of Oakmont, passed away with his family by his side, on Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was born on January 24, 1938, in Pittsburgh to the late William J. and Mary E. (Brock) McCall. William or "Bill" grew up in Natrona Heights, graduated from Har-Brack High School in 1955 and graduated from Grove City College in 1959 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Bill also answered his nation's call to serve a short tour in the Air Force. He worked as a senior electrical engineer at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation for 39 years until he retired in 1998. Bill enjoyed golfing, bicycling, traveling and vacationing each summer in Ocean City, NJ with his family. In his retirement, he also worked as a crossing guard for Riverview High School and volunteered at 2 US Opens at the Oakmont Country Club. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending his free time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Pop Pop, as his grandchildren knew him as, loved to play games with them, teach them new skills and watch them grow into talented, caring young adults. He was also very proud of his 3 daughters and their many accomplishments.
Bill is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Kathy (Ammannito) McCall; daughters, Maria (Paul) Barden, of Fairport, NY, Ann (Brian) Bollinger, of Leesburg, VA, and Janet (David) Scott, of Oakmont. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Jessica, Bridgette, Lindsey, Jennifer, Patrick and David.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of a blessing service at 10:00 a.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688. Officiating will be the Rev. Aaron J. Kriss. Burial will follow in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
