William D. Mcleod

William D. McLeod, 72, of Tarentum, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at his home. He was born August 11, 1951, in Miami, Florida to the late William and Hazel (Goza) McLeod. Before retiring, Bill was a Professor of Economics at Broward College in Florida and later worked as an Attorney at his practice in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in economics and received his masters in economics from the University of Miami and his Ph.D in economics from Florida State University. He also graduated with a law degree from the University of St. Thomas Law School and practiced law while continuing to teach. As a teacher, he thought it was important to develop personal relationships with his student that he mentored and made time to discuss economic issues with them. Bill kept up with legal issues after retiring and enjoyed discussing politics, watching old movies, reading and playing with his rescue dogs over the years. Bill adapted easily to the winter weather of western Pennsylvania after living in southern Florida. Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Antoinette (Gazarik) McLeod, sister Nancy (Louis) Sabia of Miami, Fla., brother-in-law, Richard (Lucy) Gazarik, niece, Katie Gazarik, nephew, Adam (Kellie) Gazarik and by his four great nieces. He also leaves many friends and former colleagues in Florida.
