Robert J. Smith, 77, of Natrona Heights, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. He was born April 12, 1946 in Natrona Heights to the late Francis and Charlotte (Campbell) Smith. Robert was a 1965 graduate of Har-Brack High School, where he was the team mascot. He served his country for over 20 years, first in the United States Navy for a year and a half and for 19 years with the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Tech Sergeant. After his retirement, Robert worked at Camp Lejeune. He was a member of Guardian Angels Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Campus in Natrona Heights. Robert enjoyed golfing, playing video games and was a Nascar fan of Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott. He is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Margaret "Margie" (Lingenfelter) Smith, children, Robert Patrick (Tina) Smith, of Natrona Heights, Steven Thomas (Gean) Smith, of Creekside and Valerie Smith, of Natrona Heights, grandchildren, Scott (Alicia) Smith, Brittany Smith (Fiance, Cole Bouch), Xavier Smith, Daniel Smith and Izabelle Smith, great-grandchildren, Landon, Owen, Carter and Malia, siblings, Marlene Smith, of Las Vegas, William (Linda) Smith, of Newark, Del., and Jean (Leonard) Mialki, of York and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Francis Smith and sisters, Charlene Wilmoth and Cathy Ruediger.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4, 6-8 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where a blessing service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be his pastor the Rev. John B. Lendvai. Burial with full military honors will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
