Robert D. Nelson

Robert D. 'Bob' Nelson, 86, of Natrona, passed away Tuesday. March 27, 2018 in West Haven Manor, Washington Township. He was born June 12, 1931, in Natrona Heights to the late James E. and Helen Smith Nelson. Bob worked for the former C.D. Phillips Cabinet Shop in Natrona Heights and later was the owner of Robert Nelson and Sons contracting retiring in 2011. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Natrona Heights and was a member and past chief of the former Natrona Fire Company. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, chocolate ice cream and loved his dogs. He was the loving husband of 66 years to Shirley J. (Richardson) Nelson; loving father to Pam Nelson, of Natrona Heights, Kim (Terry) Tomporoski, of New Kensington and Craig (Kelly) Nelson, of Natrona Heights; grandfather of, Christopher (Missy) Sirota, Tara (Barry) Lucas, Shawn (Sara) Nelson, Angella (Bob) Yeager, Chelsea (Joel) Parknavy, Colton Tomporoski and Nicholas Nelson; great grandfather to, Parker & Nash Lucas, Dominic & Noah Nelson, Samantha & Bobby Yeager and Mila Sirota; father-in-law to, Jennifer Nelson, of Valencia; and brother to John (Sandy) Wilhelm, of New Kensington and Russ (Rose) Wilhelm, of Natrona Heights. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Grace Bryant Nelson; son, Gary Nelson; great grandson, Izak Nelson; and by his sister, Doris Valasek.

Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4, 6-8 PM in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where funeral ceremonies will be held on Saturday at 10 AM.
