Richard W. Shoop

Richard W. Shoop, 74, of Natrona Heights, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2022. He was born September 17, 1948, in St. Cloud, MN, a son of the late Richard E. and Erma (Morrow) Shoop. Rick attended Springdale HS. He worked as a dock worker for 20 years at Action Industries in Cheswick where he was also a Teamsters Union representative. He later attended CCAC-Boyce and the University of Pittsburgh where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. As an RN, he worked in the Cardiac Care Unit at Mercy Hospital and briefly at St. Margaret’s Hospital. Rick is a member of the Natrona Heights Presbyterian Church, the Springdale and Allegheny Valley Pool Leagues, the Tarentum District Sportsmen’s Club, and the Pymatuning Sportsmen’s Club in Linesville, PA. He was formerly active in the Valley Trap League and Frazer Sportsmen’s Club. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, fly fishing, boating, trap shooting, small game and bird hunting. His passions also included playing pool, cooking, making soup, and baking apple pies. Rick is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marjorie (Martini) Shoop; brother, Arley (Boc) Shoop, of Pflugerville, Texas; sister, Jeannie (Robert) Flynn, of Hudson, OH; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 and from 6 until the service at 7:30 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688.
