Patricia Louise (Romanowski) Yunker a longtime resident of O’Hara Township, passed away at Edwards Hospital in Naperville, IL on the evening of Monday July 7, 2025. She was 91 years old. Patricia was born on May 4, 1934 in Natrona Heights, PA to her parents Chester and Josephine (Chybrzynski) Romanowski, and she graduated from Har-Brack High School in 1952. After graduation, Patti worked several jobs and went to school to be a Beautician. She then worked in her sister’s Beauty Shop and several other jobs while also attending college. While working at PPG Industries in Creighton, she met and ultimately married Roy Yunker on May 19, 1962. They were married for 57 years until he passed in 2019.
Patti and Roy were avid travelers, visiting, during their lifetime together, over 35 countries on 5 different continents, including China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Egypt, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Costa Rica, Greece, and a cruise through the Panama Canal.
Patricia was a Volunteer at St Margaret Memorial Hospital in Aspinwall for over 45 years. She put in over 6,825 hours working in the Medical Library, helping to install Lifeline Systems in Seniors homes, working in the Volunteer Office, supporting the Annual 5K Race at the Hospital that her husband Roy originally organized, and working on many special projects in and around the hospital. She was a member of the St Margaret’s Women’s Auxiliary for over 34 years, and she served in the position of President from 1998-2000.
In the 1980’s, Pat developed a love for Stamping and created intricate and beautiful and countless Birthday, Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day(her favorite), and many other holiday and occasion cards every year that she loved to send to her family and friends. She was always trying to learn a new technique or skill to create new and exciting cards.
Pat was an excellent gourmet cook, and she was always in search of new and delicious recipes to try. She and Roy were members of a Gourmet Cooking Group for over 35 years called CD2 (CD Squared) which stood for Covered Dish Dinner but because all the husbands of the couples in the group were Engineers at PPG Industries where Roy worked for over 45 years, they enjoyed the math reference. At the beginning, the group enjoyed monthly dinners rotating to a different house each month, and each couple bringing one part of the meal. Once the CD2 couples retired, they changed from hosting the dinners in their homes, to taking a trip together once a year to diverse locations like Martha’s Vineyard, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, a Caribbean Cruise, The Villages in Florida, and San Diego, California, where they would enjoy gourmet meals and each other’s’ company. This group of people were their lifelong friends.
Pat and Roy were also members of a second Gourmet Cooking Group with a different set of couples. This group got together for over 10 years creating themed gourmet meals. They always looked forward to the comradery and the food.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband Roy, her son Roy Jr (Skip), her parents Chester and Josephine, and her brother Anthony Romanowski. She is survived by her daughter Suzanne (Randall) Mika, and her son John (Lisa) Yunker, and her grandchildren Maxwell (27), Samuel (21), Matthew (18), and twins Anna (15) and Anthony (15), her sister Mary Jo (Robert – deceased) Perman, her brother Chester (Linda-deceased) Romanowski, her sister in law Sherry, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday September 19, 2025 at Blessed Sacrament Church 800 Montana Avenue Natrona Heights, PA 15065. Burial and a Reception will follow.
