Patricia Ann Britton Malarkey Kowal went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 24, 2023..
She had been in failing health and suffered from Alzheimer Disease.
Patricia (or Patty as she preferred) was born in 1933 and had just celebrated her 90 th birthday with her
fellow residents and nurse friends at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Rd, Cabot PA.
Her parents were Francis and Helen (Gibb) Britton of Brackenridge, PA
Patty graduated from St Joseph’s High School, Natrona PA
She was a member of the Charismatic Renewal and had attended the Ezekiel 37 prayer group at Mt St
Peters Church in New Kensington, PA. Patty also was a member of the Ladies of Charity from OLMBS
where she frequently visited the elderly at Concordia and gave communion and a service at Rosebrook
with her friend Audrey Mialki.
Patty had attended Guardian Angels Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Campus in Natrona Heights all her life
before moving to Concordia and attending their services there since 2012.
She started her work career at Caputo’s School of Dance having taught tap, ballet and toe. Patty also
worked a few positions in retail, one being Birdville Pharmacy for 25 years in Natrona Heights before
retiring from Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights.
Patty is survived by her daughter, Colette (Jeffrey) Garmer of Brackenridge, grandson, Matthew
(Honey) Sabotka of Creighton. Two step-grandchildren Cameron (Katherine) Garmer and Elaine
(Jason) Garmer-Spencer both of Sarver. She also has three great grandchildren, Michael (Allyssa
Palmer) Sabotka, Mark (Miranda Schellman) Sabotka and Lexus Sabotka. and a step great grandchild
Hayden Spenser, two great great grandchildren, Hazel and Zachery Sabotka, Her sisters Dolores Foley
of Pittsburgh and Mary Catherine Dietz of Twin Falls, ID and many nieces and nephews.
She was loved by all and will certainly be missed as we carry on her legacy with love.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Hugh Francis (Margorie) Britton, her sisters,
Margaret Calligan McMeans, Helen Snyder and Helen’s son Geoffey, 17, who had drowned in the
Allegheny River at the age of 17.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where a parting prayer service will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Campus with her pastor the Rev. John B. Lendvai as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Freeport.
