In Loving Memory of a Remarkable Woman

Mary Eleanore Szwedko-Rose, of Natrona Heights, previously of Oakmont, peacefully passed away August 18, 2026, at the age of 95. Born May 27, 1931, she was the daughter of Leonard and Jessie (Woznicki) Elter. She is predeceased by her spouses and partner Robert Szwedko, Raymond Rose, and John Hudy.

She was a devoted mother to her seven children Christine Wolfe Bosch (Bob), Robert Szwedko Jr. (Joyce), Michael Szwedko, Lori Costa (Duilio) and Nina Johnston. She was predeceased by two daughters, Linda Goldfarb (Ken) and Cheryl Huegli, and Cheryl’s husband Gordon Huegli. She was a strong presence in their lives, and her family often turned to her for direction and encouragement.

She had a gift for sharing her knowledge and providing guidance to her loving grandchildren Melissa Hume (Eric), Jessie Watkins (Shawn), Kenneth Goldfarb (Kelly), Matthew Goldfarb (Zoe), Nathan Goldfarb (Eva), Michelle Pegler (Brett), Robert Szwedko III, Gordon Huegli II (Jess), Megan Huegli, Brandon Huegli (Ashley), Miranda Costa (Steve), Madelaine Costa, Mary Shell (Matt), Julianna Johnston, and Douglas Johnston who will keep her memory alive for her great-grandchildren William Hume; Jolene, Reagan and Steele Watkins; David Goldfarb; Ryan Krzeptowski and Benjamin Goldfarb; Colt Huegli; Kyler Coney; Levi and Lincoln Huegli; Elizabeth and Wyatt Shell; and soon to be born new baby to Kenneth & Kelly Goldfarb.

As the eldest of eight siblings, Leonard, John, Michael, and Raymond Elter, Philomena Kramer, Cathy Pechar, and Rita Pavlak (deceased), she learned early in life the meaning of responsibility and perseverance. These qualities became the foundation of the life she built and the family she loved so deeply.

She also had a lifelong curiosity for learning. Even in her later years, she remained remarkably knowledgeable about world events. She loved gardening, listening to polkas and talk-radio. Her passion for holistic health led her to become knowledgeable in natural remedies and healing. She shared her knowledge generously and dedicated much of her life to helping others understand the benefits of natural approaches to health and wellness.

In her 95 years, she created a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and an unwavering commitment to her family leaving behind more than memories. Perhaps the greatest testament to her life is that her lessons will continue long after she has gone. Her voice may be quiet now, but the wisdom she spent a lifetime sharing will continue to speak through the generations she leaves behind.
