Marlene J. Pomaybo

Marlene J. “Chooky” (Knox) Pomaybo, 88, of Natrona Heights, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.  She was born June 26, 1935, in Tarentum to the late Walter J. and Anna (Beck) Knox.  Marlene was a 1954 graduate of East Deer High School.  She worked as a Teller for 10 years at the Union National Bank in Tarentum and retired as a nurse aide in the OB department at Allegheny Valley Hospital after 20 years of service.  Marlene was a member of Guardian Angels Parish, Natrona Heights Campus and the Ladies Auxiliary at Citizens Hose Volunteer Fire Department in Natrona Heights in the 1980’s and 1990’s.  She enjoyed baking cookies and pastries for the holidays, attending craft shows, no maintenance flower gardening and doing arts and crafts with ceramics and wood.  Marlene especially enjoyed family vacations at Presque Isle in Erie and Conneaut Lake and also the trips to Hawaii, Florida, New York, California and cruises to the Grand Cayman Islands.  Marlene is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald Pomaybo, sons Stephen (Bonnie) Pomaybo, Francis (Rebecca) Pomaybo, Matthew (Amy) Pomaybo and Eric (Julie) Pomaybo, grandchildren, Shane (Leah) Pomaybo, Brandon (Susan) Pomaybo, Elizabeth Pomaybo (Peter Joseph Mohr IV), Jacob (Sarah) Pomaybo and Christian (Katarina) Pomaybo, great-grandchildren Jason, Peter, Emelia, and Leo Wayne.  In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her brothers Walt James “Jim” Knox and by her sisters, Juanita “Minky” Carr and Georgia “Gee Gee” Kubla.  

Friends will be received on Friday from 5-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of a blessing service at 10:00 a.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688.  Officiating will be the Rev. John B. Lendvai.  Burial will be in Mt.
