Lois Ruth Boroto

Lois Ruth Boroto died peacefully in her home on July 26, 2026. She was born on March 12, 1923 – 103 years ago – to William (Frank) Savage and Anna (Annie) Caroline Heil Savage. She graduated from Har-Brack High School in 1941 and worked as a nurse’s aide at Allegheny Valley Hospital until her marriage to Samuel Boroto in 1942.

After WW2 they settled in the Campton area of Natrona Heights. Lois was truly a “Renaissance Woman”. She was first a wife and mother and as her 3 daughters each grew, she went to work at The Valley Daily News for several years, eventually working a motor paper route well into her sixties. Her hobbies were extremely varied: cooking, sewing, crocheting, gardening, bowling, golfing, reading, and painting (oils, tempera, water colors). She also did a lot of traveling to Europe and South America with daughter, Kathy. There were annual trips to Arizona to visit Judy & Bonnie. Her friends ranged in age from her high school friends to those the same age as her elder 2 daughters. All of this kept her young at heart. She loved reminiscing about all the changes she’d seen in her century of living – some good and some bad – in her opinion.

She was actively involved with Kathy’s activities as an American Field Service volunteer and welcomed all of those students into her home as “Grandma”.

She is preceded in death by parents and siblings as well as her husband, Samuel Boroto, daughter Kathy Boroto Harenski and son-in-law Michael Harenski. Her two daughters, Bonnie K. Maginn (Jon) and Judith E. Boroto, both live in Arizona.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688.  Officiating will be Pastor Jay Mitlo.  Entombment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.  To send an online condolence please visit www.cicholski-zidekfh.com.
