Leonard “Bob” Cummings of Sarver, passed away peacefully on July 2nd, 2026, in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh at 89 years old. He was born in Natrona Heights on April 19, 1937, to the late Leonard and Lydia Hooks Cummings.
Bob graduated from HarBrack High School and worked for several years as a mechanic at Penn Dixie. He later was a driver for Qualex, where he enjoyed meeting new people and trying new restaurants along his route between Pittsburgh and West Virginia.
Bob wore many different hats throughout his life, but his absolute favorite was his Santa hat. He didn’t just play the part; he truly brought the magic of Christmas to life for many children over the years. The genuine happiness he saw on their faces was the greatest gift he could have ever received – and it remains one of the most beautiful parts of his legacy.
The rest of the year, he was a man of endless hobbies and collections, from his prized stamp and coin collections, to taking on new projects like leather working, lamp building, and selling cut coin jewelry. While his hands were rarely still, Bob made time for the things that mattered most. He loved having his family around. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and canning, and he cherished every road trip adventure traveling with his wife of over 65 years, Nell. To relax, Bob loved the quiet challenge of a jigsaw puzzle, the thrill of playing scratch off tickets, or the simple pleasure of playing a tune on his harmonica for anyone who would listen.
Bob has gone home to be reunited with his parents, his loving wife Eleanor ‘Nell’, his brothers, Denny and Bill, and his great-grandson, Nathaniel.
His memory will be cherished forever by those he leaves behind. He is lovingly survived by his sister Hope Wetter of Texas, and by his children: Bobby (Rhonda) Cummings of Tarentum, Bert Cummings of Sarver, and Kathy (Harry) Bayne of Sarver. His legacy also lives on through his three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Bob’s wonderful life, friends and family will be welcome to gather on Thursday, July 9, 2026, in the CICHOLSKI - ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heightsfrom 2 - 4 and then from 6pm till time of services at 8:00 pm with Pastor Chris Marshal officiating.
