Kenneth R. Davis

Kenneth R. Davis, 85, of Sarver, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 7, 2020. He was born October 21, 1935, in West Tarentum, a son of the late Ralph and Ann Davis. Ken was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelors degree in secondary education. During his first years of teaching, he was the only art teacher for grades one through 12 for the East Deer-Frazer School District. Ultimately, Ken retired from teaching in 1996 from Gateway High School, where he taught art for 39 years, specializing in painting color and design for nearly all of his career. Ken also taught night courses in art appreciation and history at Boyce Campus of Allegheny County Community College. He was a member of Guardian Angels Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Natrona Heights, where he was a member of the church choir. Ken started his career in the church choirs at Sacred Heart Church, then to Sacred-Heart St. Peters Church and continued when the churches merged at Holy Martyrs Church all in West Tarentum. He was also a Eucharist Minister and CCD teacher at Sacred Heart St. Peters Church. Ken was a world traveler visiting every continent. He donated his time to do the restoration work for the Sisters of St. Francis at the former St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh. Ken continued donating his time and expertise doing restoration work for many churches in the local area. Ken is survived by his longtime partner and spouse of 37 years, Martin Miller; his puppy, Max; and by his close family and friends whom he enjoyed spending time with, the VanderBuilts, Virginia Namesnik, Marion Sturlini, Thomas Mertens, Denise Wagner, Kevin Guida and Karen Murar.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688. Officiating will be his dear friend the Rev. Stan Gregorek. Burial will be private. Please be prepared to follow all CDC guidelines, including the wearing of face coverings and social distancing.
