Judith L. Grottenthaler

Judith L. (Mattern) Grottenthaler, 82, of Natrona Heights passed away with her family at her side on Monday, August 10, 2026. She was born December 3, 1943 in Tarentum, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Ruth (George) Mattern. Judi retired in 2006 from Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge where she worked as a roll turner. She was a member of the Allegheny Valley Baptist Church in Natrona Heights. Judi enjoyed reading her bible, working on crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. Judi is survived by her children, Thomas Shoaf Jr., of Natrona Heights and Dawn (Michael) Howells, of Natrona Heights, grandchildren. Brandon Howells, Brittany (Derek) Kilgore, Tylor Shoaf, Alexis (Hunter) Lang, Ryan (Ashley) Clark, Kristen Clark and Cody (Samantha) Clark, 14 great grandchildren and two more on the way, son-in-law, William Clark, of Natrona Heights and by her sister, Dorothy Hazlett, of Natrona Heights. In addition to her parents, Judi was preceded in death by her daughter, Dana Clark, brothers, Lloyd Jr., William, George and David Mattern. Judi's family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers, Leona Hirtz, Brenda Wall and Charlene Jewart.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4, 6-8 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be her pastor the Rev.
