In Loving Memory of John L. Supik
It is with heavy hearts that we gather to celebrate the life of John L. Supik, a man whose journey through this world was filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. John, aged 89, of Buffalo Township, entered into eternal rest on a peaceful Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of service, friendship, and an enduring love that will forever echo through the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
John was born on April 30, 1934, in Tarentum, a child of Joseph Supik and Catherine (Fulmer) Supik Bodnar. From his early days in Tarentum, it was clear that John was destined for a life filled with purpose and meaning. He embraced a call to service that would define his existence.
John's dedication to his country was evident as he served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. Following his military service, he embarked on a career at PPG Industries in Creighton, eventually retiring from there.
His love for community and fellowship led him to become a member of St. Mary, Mother of God R.C. Church in Freeport and join the ranks of V.F.W. Post 894 in Natrona Heights. John was a proud member of the Freeport Eagles and the Tarentum Eagles, where he found a sense of companionship that enriched his life.
With his sons, John established Supik’s Vending Service, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and his commitment to family. Over the course of three decades, they built a thriving business that served the community and provided a foundation for his children and their families.
One of John's greatest joys in life was the simple pleasure of socializing and spending time with those he loved. His stories were captivating, and his presence was a comforting embrace to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
John is survived by his loving children, John L. Supik of Tarentum, Robert Supik of Tampa, Florida, and Theresa (Shawn) Hetler of Tarentum. He also leaves behind stepchildren, Tammy Jakicic of Natrona Heights, and Teri (Eric) Sweeney of Freeport, along with a legacy of 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, in addition to many nieces and nephews each a living testament to the love and life he shared.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline (Dugan) Supik, in 2009, and his son, Michael Supik, in 2017, whose memory he cherished. He also joins his brothers, Thomas, Alex, Rudolph, and Joseph Supik in eternal rest, united once more in a place beyond our sight.
