James L. Hussey, 62, of Tarentum, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025. He was born on October 7, 1962, in St. Louis, Missouri. Known for his skills as a mechanic, James dedicated his life to his trade and took pride in his work.
As a Native American James learned the trade of large truck repairs growing up in Missouri. He attained his CDL to drive large trucks at the early age of 16. Then he entered military service in 1982. The next year after serving in Korea he acquired Meningitis which impacted his left side and foot eventually leading to his Honorable Discharge in 1986 with disability. By 1990 the Pittsburgh VA was able to help him walk with a uniquely designed, left lower leg brace and special shoe that allowed him to walk with a cane. Once mobile again he was able to do some local vehicle repairs for Tarentum friends until his passing. The Pittsburgh VA medical teams in Oakland and Heinze would keep him healthy for the next 35 years, especially providing Kind and Caring VA ICU Oakland medical attention through his last days. The family is thankful for this precious VA care. Finally, James was known for spending time helping his many longtime friends in Tarentum.
James had a unique gift for connecting with people. He was always willing to lend a hand, often going out of his way to help friends and neighbors. His warm personality and generous spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He enjoyed camping and fishing in Forest County with his friends.
He is survived by his brother Burt (Betty) Hussey and sister Ruth (Michael Ritter) Hussey. James was preceded in death by his parents, Burt and Linda (Harvey) Hussey Sr.
