Geraldine M. (Marino) Decroo, 83, of Buffalo Township, went home to be with Jesus and her beloved husband on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia, Cabot. She was born June 20, 1935, in Tarentum to the late John P. and Lucy Leopardi Marino. Gerri was a 1953 graduate of Tarentum High School where for many years she served on the reunion committee. Upon the opening of the Heights Plaza by her father, Gerri opened the former Hat Box and later along with her late husband, were the owner's of the former Kirby's Kandles and Kards, also in the Heights Plaza. Upon retiring, Gerri and her late husband moved to Arizona for five years before returning to the area. She was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Natrona Heights. Gerri was known for sending cards to all of her family and friends for many different occasions and later in life enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel on TV. She is survived by her children, Joseph (Sue) Decroo, of Buffalo Township, Brenda Decroo (Dave Jones), of Buffalo Township, Greg (Lisa) Decroo, of Lower Burrell and Kirby (Patti) Decroo Jr., of Buffalo Township; 6 grandchildren, Bethani (Adam) Decroo-Boyer, Nick (Emily) Decroo, Josh Decroo (August Drake), Noelle (Mike) Decroo-Holden, Neal Decroo and Nevin Decroo; great grandson, Landon Holden and one great grandson due in April; sister, Marlene (Robert) Young, of Natrona Heights and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Gerri was preceded in death by her husband, Kirby A. Decroo on December 29, 2014; and by her brother, John D. Marino.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 1-3, 6-8 pm in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where a blessing service will be held on Monday at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am in Most Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Aaron Kriss as celebrant. Entombment will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township.
