Frederick Mohar Jr., 73, of Natrona Heights, passed peacefully from complications to Alzheimer's Disease on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. Born on September 13, 1943, in Curtisville, he was a son of the late Frederick and Anna (Semenick) Mohar. Fred was a graduate of West Deer High School Class of 1961. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1967. Fred retired in 1998 as Chief Dispatcher at Allegheny Ludlum Steel, 8-2 Department after 34 years of service. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner at Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Natrona Heights, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2602 in Natrona. Fred was a avid golfer and enjoyed many hobbies in his wonderful life including; hunting, fishing, playing poker and traveling. Fred is survived by his loving wife and 'Sweetheart' Barbara (Pawloski) Mohar. He was her one and only love for over 51 years and best friend. Fred is the beloved father to daughters, Kimberly (Donald) Minick, of New Kensington and Melissa Mohar, of Natrona Heights. He was the proud 'Pup-Pup' of his 'princess doodlebug', granddaughter, Madison Minick; brother of Dorothy (the late John) Bodnar; brother-in-law to, Patti and David Florek, Janet Lenz, John and Dawn Pawloski; warmhearted uncle to many nieces and nephews. Barb and her daughters would like to extend their deepest 'thank you' for the care provided by Allegheny Health Network's Healthcare@Home, Home care and Hospice.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4, 6-8PM in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where a blessing service will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM in Most Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Aaron Kriss as celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
