Edward S. Nycz, 90, of Natrona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at his home. He was born September 22, 1934, in East Franklin Township to the late Frank and Salamaja (Platek) Nycz. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army. His working career started at Pullman Standard in Butler and he retired from Haskells in Oakmont where he worked as a shearman. Ed was a member of Guardian Angels Parish Natrona Heights Campus and was a member of the former St. Joseph Church in Natrona. His other memberships include the P.N.A. in Natrona, American Legion Post 48 in Natrona and the Outdoor Life Lodge in Fawn Township. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, games of chance, polka music and working on puzzles. Ed is survived by his sons, Edward (Bonnie) Nycz, of Allegheny Township, Stanley (Kathy) Nycz, of Natrona and Mark (Annette) Nycz, of Natrona, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Borowski) Nycz on November 2, 2012, daughter, Michele D. Nycz on November 17, 2000, brothers, Frank and Walter Nycz and by his sisters, Casimira Kovalchick, Domicela Pawloski, Sophie Ewanish, Hedwig Pawloski and Leona Guzak.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where a parting prayer service will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m, in Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, Transfiguration R.C. Church, Russellton. Burial will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ed may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
