Connie J. Hoak

December 31, 1933 — October 5, 2024

Brackenridge

Connie J. (Bash) Hoak, 90, of Brackenridge, peacefully departed this world with her family at her side on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Born December 31, 1933, Connie was the daughter of the late George and Laura (Baker) Bash. Celebrating 55 years of marriage to George H. Hoak prior to his departure in 2008, Connie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Affectionately called "Grandma" by many family friends, she often mentored younger generations with wisdom and humor. As animal lovers throughout their lives, Connie and George cared for many pet dogs and cats and enjoyed feeding birds and squirrels visiting their yard. Some of Connie's simple pleasures were music (especially country tunes), dancing, playing bingo, building jigsaw puzzles, solving word search puzzles, crafting, watching ball games (baseball and football) and game shows, baking, gardening and bowling. During her younger years, Connie enjoyed playing softball and was most proud of pitching a "no hitter" for her team in the world series. For many years, Connie worked as an aide at a personal care home and as a custodian at the PNA in Natrona. Connie is survived by her daughter, Clara Marie (Hoak) Stone of Natrona, son, Gary (Margie Maliszewski) Hoak of Springdale, grandson, Frank E. Stone of Natrona, and youngest sister, Mary K. "Sue" Sager of Homer City, along with several nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded by her husband George Hoak on August 20, 2008; brothers, Chester Gibson, George J. A. "Andy" Bash Jr., Martin "Bud" Bash and Thomas Bash; sisters, Margaret Love, Minnie Sum and Violet Hunter; and brothers / sisters-in-law. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc. 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724.224.8688, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.  Officiating will be Pastor Dean Ward. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Connie's family suggests contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice or to Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley 730 Church St, New Kensington, PA 15068, or the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches (AVAOC) "Cross on the Hill" or "Food Bank" 1913 Freeport Rd, Natrona Heights, PA 15065.
