Caryl L Phillips

September 20, 1945 — May 4, 2026

Caryl L. (Swirceski) Phillips. 80, of Natrona Heights, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026. She was born September 20, 1945, in Natrona to the late Matthew and Jennie (Zmudzenski) Swirceski.

After graduating from Harbrack (Go Tigers!) High School, Caryl earned her Nursing License at Montefiore Hospital. While working as a RN at Citizens Hospital, she trained to be a CRNA. Caryl never stopped learning so after she received her BS in nursing, she attended St. Francis University of Joliette, where she received a Masters Degree In Health Science.

From1968 until her retirement in 2011 Caryl worked primarily at South Side Hospital, but if you had surgery at a number of local hospitals in that time, there is a chance Caryl was that masked redhead at the head of the table when woke you up, she is often discussed as worthy to the title GNAAT (Greatest Nurse Anesthetist of All Time)

Throughout her lifetime Caryl enjoyed learning, traveling, and playing and watching almost all sports. She was a renowned NFL Draft expert! Caryl was a very good 2nd baseman in the South Park Women’s Softball league, a gritty fielder, a tough out and a smart baserunner. She loved mystery books and Broadway shows, and she was known by postal workers nationwide for the colorful custom designed envelopes she mailed daily to family and friends. Since moving back home from South Park in 2019, she’s been a member of the Guardian Angels Parish.

Caryl is survived by her husband, Albert Phillips, daughter Morgan Phillips, son in law Andy Scarborough son, Brennan Phillips ,daughter in law Lee Ann Stubbs, sister, Christina Jones, beloved cat, Esmy, and many grandkitties. She was proceeded in death very recently by Larry Jones her brother-in-law and traveling casino friend. You know they will trying out some cool new games together!

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 12:00 pm in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights with her pastor the Rev. John B. Lendvai as celebrant. To send an online condolence please visit www.cicholski-zidekfh.com
