Anna Mae (Oravitz) Thimons, 96, of Tarentum, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. She was born September 24, 1925, in Tarentum the daughter of the late Frank and Kathleen (Lantry) Oravitz. Anna Mae was a 1944 graduate of Tarentum High School. She was a member of Guardian Angels Parish, Holy Martyrs Church in Tarentum, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers, Ladies of Charity and a Eucharistic Minister. Anna Mae was a devout Catholic who loved Jesus very much. She attended Mass seven days a week for decades. Also, she spent hours every day in prayer and often would spend the entire night on her knees praying. She and her husband were very generous to dozens of Catholic missions and charities. They prayed the rosary together on a daily basis. She taught her children to pray often and to "Trust in Jesus' always. Anna Mae is survived by her children, Edward D. (Barbara) Thimons Sr., of Bethel Park, Joseph F. (Jane) Thimons, of Natrona Heights, David R. (Janice) Thimons, of Marienville, Kathleen (Larry) Barkowski, of Natrona Heights and Thomas V. (Cathy) Thimons, of Allison Park; grandchildren, Edward Jr. (Julie), Heather, Nathan (Jen), Todd, Christy (Kevin), Nick (Kami), Ben (Natasha), Allie (Russ), Gabe, Kate (Cody), Michael (Marissa), Clare (Brandon), Andrew, Alyssa (Matt), Jessica and Mathew; 23 great-grandchildren, and by her sisters-in-law, Louise Thimons and Jeanne Thimons. In addition to her parents, Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Edward A. Thimons on January 6, 2020; grandson, Scott Edward Thimons, brothers, James and Earl Oravitz and by her sisters, Helen Rowe, Mary Klingensmith and Rita Eckenrod.
Friends will be received on Friday from 1-4, 6-8 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where a parting prayer service will be held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m in Holy Martyrs Church with the Rev. Aaron J. Kriss as celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Tarentum.
