Ann G. Beresik, 92, of Natrona Heights passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Homeland Center in Harrisburg, PA in the presence of her daughter and devoted caretaker, Therese Reinhardt.
Ann was born July 15, 1923 in Canton, Ohio, daughter of the late Frank C. Golier and Anna V. Novak Golier. She moved to Natrona Heights in 1925 and was a resident of Harrison Township for most of her life.
Ann graduated from Har-Brack High School in 1941. She attended Business School and became an executive secretary for Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Pittsburgh. She retired to raise her family and later returned to the workforce, once again working for Allegheny Ludlum as an Accounts Payable Clerk in the Brackenridge and Pittsburgh Offices.
Ann was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Parish, St. Mathias worship site where she attended grade school, was married, and attended Mass for her entire adult life until her health failed her. She was a devout Catholic. As a member of Saint Mathias parish she was an active member of the Christian Mothers and the Rosary Society.
Ann enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, needlecrafts, playing cards and working on crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed cooking large Slovak meals for her brothers Paul, Francis, and Robert and sister Bernie and their families when they would return home to Natrona Heights to visit. When she worked in Pittsburgh she frequented Kaufmanns, Gimbels, and Hornes on her lunch hour, scouring the racks for bargains for her grandchildren. After she retired, she traveled extensively with her husband, Sylvester, visiting their daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren in Harrisburg and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
In life, Ann was a very loving and giving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very proud of her family and cherished her Slovak heritage.
Ann is survived by her son, John S. (Deborah) Beresik of Sarver, and daughters Therese Ann (Alan) Reinhardt of Dillsburg, PA, and Kate B. (Mark) Filipiak of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; five grandchildren Abbey L. (Mark) Renfrew of Natrona Heights, Amanda R. (Michael) Bender of Sarver, Kelsey Anne Reinhardt of Los Angeles, CA, Nathan E. Reinhardt of Richmond, VA, and Sam M. Filipiak of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; and two great grandchildren Reese Ann Renfrew and Jacob M. Bender; and by her youngest brother Robert T. (Sue) Golier.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Sylvester L. Beresik, sister Bernice Nowicki and brothers Paul M. Golier and Doctor Frank C. Golier.
