Sylvia R. Nitowski

April 29, 1935 — June 11, 2022

Sylvia Rita Nitowski, 87, formerly of Natrona Heights, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022, at
Butler Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 29, 1935, in
Natrona, PA, to the late Aloysius and Pearl Glogowski. Sylvia was a longtime resident of
Natrona Heights, PA and had moved to Concordia, Cabot where she spent her final days. Sylvia
was a devout Catholic, and a member of Guardian Angels Parish, St. Ladislaus Church in Natrona.
She attended Har-Brack High School, and after graduating in 1953, moved
to the state of Florida where she worked and lived before returning to PA to marry the love of
her life, Richard, in 1960. They resided in Butler, PA, adding four daughters to their family
between 1961 and 1970. Sylvia and Richard returned to the Natrona Heights area in 1972
where she and her husband of 58 years raised their 4 daughters, whom she lovingly referred to
as #1, #2, #3, and #4.
Sylvia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She served as
Brownie Scout leader, PTA member, and in countless other organizations. She managed a
creative household where she loved decorating for the holidays and shared her many talents of
cooking, sewing, and of course cake decorating. She made many cakes for members of the
community; she even made all 4 daughters’ wedding cakes. There was never a shortage of icing
in the refrigerator for guests.
She loved being with her family, spending much of her time babysitting, traveling to Florida,
Virginia and Rehoboth Beach, supporting countless concerts, musicals, communions, and
graduations.
She is survived by her four daughters, Richelle Nold of Ashburn, VA, Maria Stewart of
Gainesville, VA, Jodi (Sam) Albert of Saxonburg, PA and Cris (Andreas) Hunn of Leesburg, VA;
Grandchildren include Bethany and Dillon Nold, Aaron (Danielle), Adam, Aiden, and Addison
Albert, Cameron, Ian, and Lauren Stewart, and Claudia and Henner Hunn, and several nieces,
nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband
Richard, her brother Larry Glogowski, and sisters Louise Bukowski and Dorothy Kavinsky.
