Pearl C. Mackowski

January 27, 1921 — December 24, 2015

Pearl C. (Malak) Mackowski, 94, formerly of Natrona Heights and Buffalo Township, passed away Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, in Fair Winds Manor, Winfield Township. She was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Natrona, a daughter of the late Stanley and Sophie Gorney Szczesny. Pearl worked for the Credit Union in New Kensington and later worked as a ward clerk at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights. She was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Natrona Heights. Pearl enjoyed painting, her trips to the casino, spending time with her family and her faith. She is survived by her three sons, Thomas Malak, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., John (Elaine) Malak, of Freedom, and Joseph (Marsha) Malak, of Buffalo Township; her step-children, Sandra Sakala, of Altoona, Stanley (Karen) Mackowski, of Cozab, Neb., Jeffrey (Diane) Mackowski, of Buffalo Township, and Neal (Jo) Mackowski, of Natrona Heights; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Edmund (Harriette) Szczesny, of Lower Burrell; sister, Mary Kearns, of New Port Richey, Fla.; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Malak; her second husband, Stanley T. Mackowski; son, Paul Malak; brothers, Ted and John Szczesny; and sisters, Violet McPherson and Emily McPherson.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday in the CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
