Mark A. Szafranski

Mark A. Szafranski, 57, of Brackenridge, passed away at home Thursday, July 20, 2023.  He was born May 12, 1966, in Natrona Heights, a son of Maxine Mason, of Kittanning and the late John A. Szafranski.  Mark was a 1984 graduate of Highlands High School.  He served his country with pride and honor in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, 2nd Armored Calvary Regt and the USAG Ft. Meade, MD.  He was a combat veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and also deployed overseas on multiple contingency operations.  Mark was a long time meat cutter at Shop and Save and Community Market in Natrona Heights.  He was of the Catholic faith.  Mark was a member of the American Legion Post 226 and the Oregon Club, both in Brackenridge.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycling and many years of enjoyment with family and friends at the family camp in Forest County.  In addition to his mother Maxine, Mark is survived by his brother, John (Kimberly) Szafranski, and niece Chantal Szafranski, of Parkton NC., and his beloved aunts, uncle, and many cousins.  

Friends will be received on Thursday and Friday from 6-8 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street. Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.  Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Bowser.  Burial with full military honro's accorded by the Army and the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard will be in Mt.
