Guy R. Gula

Guy R. Gula, 85, of Brackenridge passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, in the West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Feb. 11, 1937, to the late Guy S. Gula and Edith Broggi Gula. Guy was a graduate of Tarentum High School and was the former retired chief of police for Brackenridge. A member of Guardian Angels Parish Most Blessed Sacrament Campus, Natrona Heights, where he was a dedicated usher, Guy was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 39. Guy met the love of his life, Clare, at Joe Clark's candies, where they worked together until they married. They have been blessed with 67 years of marriage, where their love for each other never faltered. Guy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping in the outdoors but most of all, spending time at his camp in Dents Run, Elk County. His love for his family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was immeasurable. He was proud to be an American with the utmost love and passion for his country. Survivors include his wife, Clare Nickolaus Gula; his son, Richard Gula; two daughters, Leslie (Craig) McKinney and Angela Gula (Terry Welling); eight grandchildren, Richard McKinney, Amanda McKinney, Alycia Gula (Larry Weathersby), Cory (Casey) Tomayko, Sarah Stempkoski (Daniel Bash), Kristin Gula, Madeline Stempkoski and Jennifer Gula; 13 great-grandchildren, Mark, Olivia, Gian, Kendall, Isaiah, Micah, Aiden, Ruca, Knox, Madison, McKenzie, Sammy and Grace, and much anticipated baby, Waylon Bash. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Gula and Guy "Skip" Gula, along with his beloved mother-in-law, Florence Nickolaus. Friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688, where a parting prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Campus. Burial will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township.
