Amelia Filo

Amelia "Millie" (Kovac) Filo, 100, of Brackenridge, passed away peacefully at home with her daughters at her side on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. She was born April 7, 1923, in Natrona to the late Matthew and Emilia (Knasko) Kovac. Millie was a 1941 graduate of Har-Brack High School.  Millie worked at Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge during WWII. She was a 1965 graduate of Franco's Beauty Academy in New Kensington. Millie was a member of the former St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brackenridge, where she was a member of the Altar Guild. She enjoyed baking, playing cards, bingo and family gatherings.  Millie is survived by her daughters, Joyce E. Helfer, of Natrona Heights, Sandra J. (David) Vassar, of Lower Burrell and Susan L. (Steven) Kish, of Lower Burrell, grandchildren, Lori (Michael) Flaherty, Autumn (Robert) McCullough, Angela Kish and Steven (Ashly) Kish, granddaughter-in-law, Kristen Diaz, great-grandchildren, Collin & Hailey Flaherty, Sam & Aubree Vassar and Ivan & Anton McCullough and by her sisters, Margaret Gaydac, of Florida and Wilma Gonzalez, of Natrona Heights. Millie is reunited with her husband of 70 years, Simon P. Filo who passed on August 6, 2015, son, Michael Filo in infancy, grandson, David Vassar, brothers, John and Walter Kovac and her sister, Ethel Huet. Millie's family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers, Cindy, Sharon, Val, Linda and Kelly for their love and care.  

Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4, 6-8 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where funeral ceremonies will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev.
